Football is a wonderful sport with lovely fans and players all across this great flat earth. But be careful not to criticize certain players or teams when traveling abroad. Once in Argentina, I said that I thought the Brazilian national team was better than the Argentinian national team to a local man. That local man was so furious with me that he demanded I attend a game with him that happened to be that very night. As I walked into the stadium with the ticket he had bought for me, he turned to the players locker room and said, “you will see me after the game”.
What?! I thought to myself.
He said, “Don’t you know?”
“Know what?”, I said.
“I am the captain of the Argentinian national football team and I brought you here as my date.” , he said, astounded that I didn’t even know who he was.
